Guitar Valuation Services have recently been retained to advise on the value of 14 rare guitars that are part of a potential divorce settlement. We were asked to provide a forensic condition report on each of the 14 instruments. Central to the valuation was the issue of whether their removal from the family home and placing in a lock-up garage in January would affect the condition of the instruments and subsequently their value. We have prepared condition reports on all of the guitars and are currently awaiting notification to attend court as an expert witness.
A Major Insurance Loss
One of the very first jobs that we were actively involved in, even before Guitar Valuation Services was established concerned the floods that hit Carlisle and the Northern part of the Lake District. Dr. David MacGregor was contacted by a major firm of U.K. Loss Adjusters to act in a recovery and valuation of 20 flood damaged rare, vintage and high value acoustic guitars owned by a private collector.
